eBay User "Petronea" Black Ravens

The eBay user "Petronea" has unabashedly flooded eBay with unquestionably counterfeit axes and other items over the last 2 years. With around 300 counterfeit axes sold through the online auction site, he is without a doubt the most publicly known of fraudulent axe dealers. His crafted lines have included Black Ravens, "Mohawk Axes", Isaiah Blood marked axes, and Kelly Registered line examples. Despite a wide variety of faked products, axes from this counterfeiter are generally easily noted, as a combination of what is likely laziness and low intelligence have led to a long list of easily spotted errors. The following are typical errors and noticeable issues with "Petronea" related items:

• Misspellings of common words

• Obvious milling lines in the bottom of "etched" areas

• Mis-aligned laserings causing background "shadows" or secondary images

• Milled "pitting" in an attempt to "age" the axe

• Etches on obviously modern axes such as True Temper "Ridged Eye" axes

• Etches of one manufacturer on axes with stamps of a second manufacturer on the back

• American etches and stamps on European axes

With the huge number of obvious fakes, even any possibly authentic axes coming from this seller should be considered suspect. Pictured is a Black Raven manufactured and sold by "Petronea" in June of 2024. Along with obvious milling marks in the base of the "etch", numerous mistakes were made in the "Raven Etch" design.
