Fireman's Pattern

The fireman's pattern, also known as a "Pick Head", or Pick Head Fireman's Axe, was one of the more popular axe patterns used by firefighter's for breaking down doors or burning walls. The American style pick head, bulkier than European versions, certainly held its roots in the similar patterns from before establishment in the United States, but ultimately began becoming a "standard" pattern with production through the Collins companies in the mid-1800s.
