The "Baltimore" pattern axes tend to be characterized with more weight in the body of the axe proportionally to the length of the axe head. This leaves a wider poll and body when compared to a similarly weighted head of the same "non-baltimore" head of the same pattern (i.e. 3.5 pound Baltimore Jersey is wider but shorter than a 3.5 Jersey).
