Kelly Bevels, 1885

The Kelly Axe Manufacturing Company first started putting bevels on their axes in 1885 while manufacturing axes in Portland, Kentucky. However, they did not start labeling these axes with line names until after moving the company into Louisville proper in 1887. The original bevels, though still "triangular" in shape, were much more sharp in their angles, and would not round out until the secondary patents of 1889.
