Brant and Cochran

     In 2015, the current business of Brant & Cochran was formed by the descendants of Leland G. Ferguson at South Portland, Cumberland County, Maine. Steve and Mark Ferguson, concerned with the lack of current manufacturers of Maine made axes, formed the new company in order to preserve the rich history of Maine axe making in conjunction with partner Barry Worthing. Along with supporting the refurbishment of classic Maine axes, the company began distributing their first Wedge Pattern axe, the Allagash Cruiser, in 2018, and have expanded their lines since that time. Brant & Cochran is a large supporter of the preservation of the history of Maine made axes and is a supporter of Maine Axe and Tool Collectors group.
